Yep, that’s right – it’s somehow the school holidays again. It may seem like only weeks since Easter, but the kids are off on yet another break this September, which means that it’s only a matter of time before somebody complains that they’re bored and you’re racking your brains for something to keep them busy.

So, whether you’re after some rainy day fun (let’s hope not!), outdoor play or some budget-friendly activities for the whole fam, we’ve rounded up our top recommendations – plus a few added extras to keep Mums and Dads holiday-happy too.

Tamora Gallery

A one-stop shop for the whole family, Tamora Gallery in Canggu is home to everything from a shopping arcade and state-of-the-art playground to a skate park, kids’ activity zone, art murals, dance workshops, music, great food, and so much more. They hold special weekly events like pop-up kids’ movie nights and family day on Sundays – including a foam party, face painting and jumping castle, so we’d recommend checking their schedule to see what’s on each week.

Waterbom Bali

Voted Asia’s best waterpark multiple years running and home to a range of adrenaline-pumping rides for all ages, this world-class destination is sure to impress. Little ones will love the Lazy River and Funtastic play area, while adrenaline junkies can test their bravery on the dizzyingly high Climax slide. Mums and Dads can kick back by the sparkling lagoon pool and swim-up bar – before testing out a brand-new elevated spa experience. Top it all off at one of the four cafes and restaurants – and you’ve got the perfect day in paradise.

Enjoy savings of up to 25% when you book your tickets here.

Milk & Madu

An iconic neighbourhood cafe with 3 locations and another on the way, you’ll find no shortage of families soaking up the good food and good vibes here. Little ones can burn off energy in the enclosed garden and playground or get involved with some arts and crafts, while Mums and Dads can kick back and eat their way through the mouthwatering menu. Head down on Sunday for their weekly event with live music, face painting and 2-for-1 pizzas – and thank us later.

Flamingo Beach Club

Grab the fam for some fun in the sun and head to Flamingo Beach Club in Gianyar for an epic day out. There’s a huge infinity pool overlooking the ocean – next to a playground and play kitchen, so the kids can keep busy while you sit back and relax. Plus, with daily foam parties, free face painting and horseback riding, we’re pretty sure you’ll never want to leave.

Byrd House Bali

Set along sleepy Sanur’s iconic coastline, Byrd House Bali is the perfect place for a lazy day of fun in the sun. Here, you’ll find two large swimming pools, a kid’s pool – complete with a water slide, and a large outdoor playground and tennis court. They host heaps of different events throughout the week, including movie nights, market stalls and even baby turtle releases. Plus, with their half-price cocktails on a Thursday, Sunday roasts, tipsy high tea and extensive daily brunch buffets, there’s more than enough to keep even the fussiest child happy.

Sundays Beach Club

Because parents deserve a little “me-time” too, take the kids to Sundays – one of Bali’s best beach clubs and spend the day sprawled out with a cocktail in hand while the kids make a splash in the ocean (under the watchful eye of a lifeguard!). As the day turns to night, pull up a beanbag around the bonfire for toasted marshmallows and one of the best sunsets on the island, or get comfy for an open-air movie night under the stars.

Bali Wake Park & Aqualand

Summer days are best spent in the water, and where better for a fun-filled day out than Bali Wake Park & Aqualand? The kids will be busy climbing and sliding their way around the inflatable adventure course – while you can spend the day blissing out with a Bintang in the saltwater pool. If you’d prefer to be a little closer to the action, book a sunlounger and work your way through the onsite restaurant’s menu, or get your adrenaline pumping while you try your hand at wakeboarding.

Shotgun Social

Name a child who doesn’t love a wide-open space to run around in – and a parent who doesn’t love craft beers and pub food. Set along Sanur’s iconic stretch of sand, Shotgun Social is the perfect place to spend a day in paradise. They have a large, grassed area with a playground for the kids and epic weekly specials for the big kids – $5 margaritas we’re talking about you. Each Sunday is a dedicated family day with interactive kids’ games and activities running from 12 - 4 pm, plus kids eat free! (One child per paying adult). Amazing, right?

KU DE TA

We couldn’t resist adding another beach club to the mix, and trust us when we say that you’re going to want to add KU DE TA to your Bali bucket list. Set in Seminyak, this iconic spot hosts a family day every Sunday filled with long, leisurely lunches – served up alongside heaps of fun activities. We’re talking arts and crafts, face painting, games and even a petting zoo. And the best part? Little ones will be under professional supervision, meaning mums and dads can sit back and relax while the little ones burn off their energy. We’d recommend checking their Instagram before arriving, as some activities need to be pre-booked.

Splash Water Park

If you’re looking to beat the heat in Canggu, send the kids to Splash for a day of water-filled fun. Adrenaline junkies can slip and slide down four world-class waterslides, while little ones can spend the day in the Water Wonderland or float around Crazy Creek. If you want to refuel, grab a spot at their Sunday Roast – and you’ll get your Splash day pass thrown in. What more could you want?
