It’s official, it’s now time for us to minimise our daily movements and activities to reduce the spread of the virus on our idyllic island and, although a couple of days on the couch sounds dreamy, the boredom can set in pretty quick.

For those of us who are still here in Bali, you’ll already know that your daily beach hangs and spa-days are off the cards for a little while but fear not, we’ve put together a list of fun things to keep you busy from the comfort of your hotel or villa. From learning new skills to embracing your inner DIY guru, we've got you covered!

LEARN THE LANGUAGE

With a ton of apps and websites that give you lessons for free, you've truly run out of excuses not to learn Bahasa Indonesia. That’s right Bali Expats, we’re talking to you. After years spent living on the island, it's about time that you can have a conversation with your local neighbours!

TAKE 10 TO BE ZEN

It’s no surprise that people are feeling a little tense with everything going on, taking 10 minutes or so to practice mindfulness can help calm those racing thoughts. With apps for everything from meditation, mindfulness, and even yawn-inducing sleep stories, you’ll be coming out of isolation more relaxed than you’ve ever been!

Our fave app is Headspace - the perfect start for learning the basics.

GET CREATIVE

Ever dreamt about being the next Picasso? How about a DIY Guru? Well, here’s a chance to explore your true calling! As the novelty of being a couch potato wears off, isolation can be pretty dull. Don’t let boredom get the better of you; instead, try something completely new! Whether it be through art, gardening or even interior improvements, get creative with your time!

CALL YOUR LOVED ONES

Let’s be honest, self-isolating can get pretty lonely. But chances are you're not the only one that's self-isolating and everyone appreciates a friendly chat or message to let them know you're thinking of them. With more and more of us turning to virtual gatherings on video apps, it’s never been easier to keep up with friends, have a laugh, a glass of wine or three, and make the best of the lockdown.

MAKE A BUCKET LIST

Okay so the postponed vacays aren’t great, we know, but that doesn’t mean things will stay like this. Give yourself something to get excited about and start creating your travel bucket list! Write it down in black and white the places you've yet to explore, the trips you want to go on and the experiences you want to try or head to our website and create your own shortlist. If you’re stuck for ideas, check out some of our listsdeals and articles for all things Bali, because let’s be honest, it’s at the top of everyone's list!
