With a young family myself, I know how daunting it can be to book an overseas trip with little ones. We get heaps of messages about whether Bali is safe to travel to for families and first-timers alike, so we have put together a few top tips and a handy little guide to answer your burning questions.

Bali is an amazing place for families for so many reasons. From incredible family-friendly resorts to cultural experiences for all ages to fuss-free restaurants

These are reasons why we recommend it time and time again….

KIDS CLUBS

THAT LEAVE EVERYONE FEELING RELAXED

Book that Bali trip!

Kids usually want plenty of activities and entertainment on their holidays regardless of the age they are and parents are usually wanting the exact opposite, some much needed relaxation time! Finding a resort with a kids club is the perfect solution and there are some incredible ones in Bali.

I love Bali Dynasty Resort (South Kuta), Hard Rock Hotel (Kuta), Padma Resort (Legian) or for those of you with a larger budget the InterContinental Bali Resort (Jimbaran) is incredible. From pool games, to movie nights and treasure hunts - your kids will be begging you to let them stay longer. I can also vouch that the cocktails and spa facilities at these resorts are amazing too!

I’ve been staying at Peppers Seminyak with my little one for the last 3 years and cannot recommend it highly enough. Last time I was there, we managed to secure this amazing deal that gives you up to 50% off villas*. We hope you love it as much as we do!

Other noteworthy family resorts I would recommend are: The Breezes Bali Resort & SpaPelangi Bali Hotel & Spa or Bali Mandira Beach Resort & Spa.

Nusa Dua is also a kids haven! With water slides, kids playgrounds & kids club, they are great value for money resorts located right on the beach, here are my go to recommendations in Nusa Dua:

The Westin Resort

The Hilton

Grand Hyatt

Melia Bali

Explore Bali's cultural side

All-inclusive resorts are great don’t get me wrong, but sometimes it’s nice to explore and get to see Bali’s cultural side. Simon and I get asked quite frequently about what the best day tours are, so we decided to create our own tours that are designed to treat you and your family like VIPs and show you a side to Bali that we personally love. My favourites for families are.....

Monkey Forest Tour - Visit Ubud’s famous Monkey Forest in style. Our driver will pick you up bright and early and give you a little history lesson along the way.

Bali Monkey Forest Tour

Authentic Ubud Experience Tour - Take a day trip to Ubud and see the rice fields of Tegalalang (a UNESCO world heritage site), amazing waterfalls and more.

Bali Ubud Tours

Guided Temple Tour - You’ll see ancient temples, learn about Balinese culture and eat lunch by the rice fields.

And if you’re looking for a driver to pick you up and drop you off from the airport, we’ve got a fleet of cars from as low as $20AUD* one way that’ll get you to your destination safely.

FAMILY-FUN RESTAURANTS

WITH AMAZING MENUS

Great family-friendly Restaurants

It’s so important when travelling to have options outside of the resort where you can go for a family meal. I love places that are a little more relaxed, have healthy food and where you won’t get the side eye from couples dining next to you. Motel Mexicola for lunch is a winner. It’s not too busy, super colourful and the food is fresh and delicious. You can even sometimes sneak in a margarita. Heaven.

Clean Canteen is a great cafe for breakfast or lunch as it has a lot of organic options and there are highchairs available. Another goodie would be Milk & Madu which is open for breakfast, lunch & dinner - with a kid’s cubby house and slide, it keeps the kiddies entertained while you eat.

If your kids can stay up for sunset then I’d recommend you head to Mano Beach House - it’s located right on the beachfront and you can sit and relax on bean bags while the kids run around.

Other favourites would be: Cafe Bali and Kynd Community.

 NANNY & BABYSITTING

SERVICES

Babysitters and Nannies aren’t for everyone but if you’re considering a date night with your partner or just want some time out to get a massage together (Spa Alila's signature massageis a game-changer) here’s a list we’ve pulled together for reputable Nanny and Babysitting services.

 NO KIDS? NO WORRIES

If you’re on the flip side of wanting family-friendly resorts, these are our favourite resorts & villas perfect for couples, solos or friends:

One Eleven - Luxury resort in the heart of Seminyak. Pricey but worth every penny. Excellent location with a peaceful & private honeymoon feel.

Studios at Alila Seminyak - These studios are not beachfacing but they’re still part of the resort and the price is super affordable. The amenities of a luxe resort at a lower price point.

Amadea Resort & Villas - Located in the heart of Seminyak away from the hustle and bustle. Still affordable and a little more private.

Dash Hotel Seminyak - Cheap and cheerful. Best location and right near everything in Seminyak.

After some accommodation while you're eating your way around Seminyak?

Here's our favourite resorts/villas located right in the heart of Seminyak:

Hotel Indigo - right on the beach and a huge pool

Mutiara Bali Boutique Resort & Villas - a great affordable option

Montigo Resorts - big pool, fun bar area and lovely staff

All fantastic options if you're looking for somewhere central without the hefty price tag.
