Remember when your Instagram feed was flooded with images of Bali travellers sleeping/cuddling on a suspended bed of ropes overlooking stunning rice terraces? #vacaygoals

Camaya Bali / @brontethompson_

Nestled in a remote jungle area in the east of Bali that’s still untouched by fancy villas, boho boutiques, healthy cafes or tourists, Camaya Bali’s four little bamboo shacks in Selat, Karangasem offers just that—a real and unpretentious Bali experience.

Camaya Pyramid

And ever since Camaya made the Insta-hall of fame (and tons of travel bucket lists), the bamboo houses have been booked so far in advance that you’ll be waiting a couple of months to secure a spot.

Recently we spent a night at Camaya’s newest bamboo retreat named the ‘Pyramid’ and boy was it as dreamy as it looks! Here’s why we’re currently obsessing over this gorgeous slice of paradise.

Uninterrupted rice field views

Imagine waking up to THIS VIEW. Camaya Pyramid runs along the edge of a valley with open views of nothing but endless rows of rice terraces and lush jungle. As the bamboo house is semi-open (with curtains on the sides for additional privacy), you’ll feel like you’re in nature 24/7.

We also received loads of questions about mosquitoes and here’s the bonus—there aren’t any, or at least we didn’t get a single bite during our stay.

Main bedroom

The main bedroom directly faces the valley so you’ll get to enjoy the tranquil view from the moment you open your eyes. There’s also a private open bathroom and shower.

In the garden right next to the bamboo house, there’s also a cozy little bamboo dome with a second bedroom, its own open shower, and of course, equally stunning rice field views.

Our delish brekkie in Camaya Pyramid

If you’re feeling peckish, simply follow the path outside your door to Camaya’s no-frills restaurant a few minutes away. For brekkie, Camaya offers banana pancakes, fluffy scrambled eggs, a fresh fruit platter, and your choice of Bali coffee or tea. Pro tip: Request  breakfast in bed so you don’t have to leave your comfy little retreat.

Private outdoor jacuzzi in Camaya Pyramid

Take a dip in a private outdoor jacuzzi or lounge on one of the Instagram-famous large nets. Soak up the sun in style (and nature) on the net hanging out in the front.

Or cuddle with your partner and enjoy front-row sunset seats on the second net (which we’re crazy about!) suspended high under the roof. Come nightfall, it transforms into a magical space lit up with strings of fairy lights.

Warm fairy lights at night

If you’re looking for some R&R, Camaya’s bamboo shacks should be on your list. Be sure to pack all of your essentials because there are no ATMs, shops or restaurants in the area.

We’d definitely recommend booking way ahead of time as they’re usually fully booked, or keep your eyes peeled for any last minute available spots
