Last week I returned from Bali. I was finally able to take a break from my exhausting work. Since I work as a writer in the Mcessay service, I wanted to create my own personal blog and fill it with my travel stories. This is an unforgettable and indescribable experience for me to be in Bali and spend 10 days there. Here we go.

When does the season start in Bali?

Bali is always good. This is partly true. The rainy season nominally begins in November and lasts until the end of March. But in fact this does not mean that you can hide tears in the rain every day. From April to the end of October, the dry season begins. Winter is characterized by long rains, high humidity, tides, and with them trash on the southern beaches. In the dry season there is practically no rain, there is heat and the beaches are clean. And also beautiful sunsets.

The most comfortable time in Bali is from March to June and from September to mid-November, because in the summer it is indecently hot.

What is even more amazing about Bali: in one part it can pour non-stop, while in the other, 40 minutes away, your friend will be burned due to the bright sun. So at what time you would not come, you can find where it is comfortable.

What is the best way to get to Bali?

You can get to the island only by plane. Buy tickets in advance, then you can intercept the offers of Qatar for 42,000 rubles in both directions or Singapore Airlines for 40,000 with a change in Qatar and Singapore.

By the way, you can monitor tickets individually. Let's say Moscow - Singapore - Singapore - Bali. Just be sure to see if luggage is included if you do not want to fly with a backpack. It is more profitable to pay for baggage when buying tickets.

It is important to know that only one liter of alcohol and one block of cigarettes can be brought into the country. Try to cheat and you will be caught - you will shed tears, watching how the customs officers pour Chivas with you.

Do I need a visa to Bali?

Landed. Immediately stuffiness in the face and the crowd picks up for passport control. During the flight, the stewardess will be given out migration cards and customs declarations, which are best filled in advance. Classic questions: “Who are you?”, “Where will you live?”, “Why are you going?”, “What are you taking?”. By the way, about the "lucky": do not bring a dog with you. Even if she will be very bored. In Bali, not so long ago there was a dog epidemic and the export of dogs from the island is strictly prohibited. So you’ll bring the pet, but you won’t be able to take it back.

Now again about the visa. For Russians arriving up to 30 days, a visa is not needed, so feel free to go to the Foreign Passengers counter. If you plan to stay longer, you must go to the VISA for arrival counter and pay $ 35 before passport control. You will be given a stamp, and then you will need to go to the migration center 10 days before the end of the visa in order to extend it.

Money issue: currency in Bali

The national currency in Bali is the Indonesian rupee (IDR). If you are firmly convinced that in 2019 before traveling you need to change money at a Russian bank, then take the dollars.

The value of the dollar to the rupee (January 2019): $ 1 = 14,000 rupees. If you take a card, be prepared that in some stores and cafes there will be a 3% commission. Also store money in a savings account, and when you want to make a purchase, transfer the necessary amount to the card. More than once there were cases when, when buying, say, T-shirts, then the amount with geolocation in Cambodia, for example, was debited from the card. That is why Indonesia is on the black list of banks. Before the trip, call the bank and warn that you are going on vacation so that your card is not blocked when paying the bill in the restaurant.

When you withdraw money from an ATM, then give the car a percentage for the conversion of the ruble-dollar-rupee, plus for the withdrawal. So if you still haven't got a dollar travel card, then it's time to do it. There are many ATMs, but skimmers often operate. So put limits on withdrawals.

House in Bali: how to find and where to live better

You can go the easy way and book your accommodation on Booking or Agoda. There are several options: hotel, guesthouse (private hotel or house) and hostel (accommodation in a room with several people). Apartments are also in stock on Airbnb.

If you want to rent a whole villa or a room in it - go on a thorny path. You need to drop an ad into groups on Facebook and in Telegram (lists at the beginning of the article).

Another option: book a hotel for a few nights and already look for accommodation in a different place, choosing the area you like. A lot of Balinese rent rooms without posting ads. Look for Room for rent signs.
