If you have an exotic vacation coming up, chances are you're over the moon with excitement. Who wouldn't be? New sights, experiences and foods await. However, there's more to going on vacation than simply packing your bags and setting your sights on getting away from it all.

Making good choices and prioritizing your health are always important things to do, but it's especially important when you're traveling. Not only will they ensure your trip is incident-free, but it also means you'll ideally be able to enjoy your time away to the fullest.

Here are three tips for getting the most out of your exotic vacation, while still keeping your health and well-being in focus.

1. Go on a Bucket List Adventure, but Be Prepared

Do you have a bucket list? If not, why not put one together before heading off on your trip? This is a great way to not only squeeze every ounce of excitement out of your vacation but an opportunity to experience a once-in-a-lifetime adventure as well.

Maybe you're headed to Bali and have your sights set on a deep-sea fishing charter. In addition to booking your trip and ensuring you're prepared for your time on the open water, take it a step further and think about what you're going to need to feel your best.

If you tend to get seasick, make sure you stock up on anti-nausea medication. Since your eyes and skin can take a beating from prolonged sun exposure, be sure to pack cool, breathable and protective clothing and sunglasses. An eye health supplement can go the extra mile in providing additional nourishment and protection your eyes will undoubtedly need.

2. Push Limits, but Check In With Yourself First

One of the best parts about going on a vacation is trying new things. And when your vacation is an exotic one, isn't going all out a given?

The islands of Bali are known to offer adventure at every turn. Whether it's ziplining, flyboarding, or a thrilling ATV excursion, there's something for everyone. However, it's important to know what you're getting into before committing. If these types of adventures are new to you, be sure you're comfortable with any risk involved and are aware of what's required of you physically and mentally.

This is a good time to become familiar with the difference between instincts and intuition. Diving deeper into this is a good way to help yourself make decisions and live life to the fullest, especially on your vacation.

3. Take a Hike and Respect Your Body

When you're headed to a magical and beautiful location, what better way to explore than on foot? Your body is a wonderful machine just made to take you places.

Sure, you get around each day from point A to point B, but what if your legs could take you somewhere utterly mystical, such as the summit of Mount Batur

This is an excellent opportunity to use your body for something amazing, to do something more than just checking exercise off your to-do list. Taking a hike with such wonderful views and rewards along the way will push your body physically and enrich it more spiritually than a treadmill session ever can.

Don't forget to prepare properly. Good-quality hiking boots or shoes, moisture-wicking hiking socks and proper hiking gear will make all the difference. Collapsible hiking poles will help you to keep your balance or give you a boost on steep inclines or declines. A hydration backpack will prove to be more efficient and less cumbersome than a separate canteen, and high-energy snacks such as dried fruit, nuts and beef jerky are the perfect hiking fuel.

Living your best vacation life is more than within reach, especially when you're aware of how to best take care of yourself along the way. With proper preparation, a little soul searching and a lot of will for adventure, you'll soon have the vacation of a lifetime on the books.
